Mid month progress report!

Hello everyone!

So for anyone not aware, I'm participating in the CrunchlessChallenge, to see what I can make in a month of steady work without crunching, and with a little under two weeks left of this month I wanted to go over exactly where I am in the game so far!

Here is a quick description of the game, or feel free to skip past it to the list!

TierraMon is an audio game where you will delve into tunnels looking for the resource known as Tierra Shards, which can only be gathered by taming TierraMon and then using them to battle other TierraMon in the dangrous land of adventure! Tierra Shards are used to power all the technology in this world, so there is no job more important.

The List, some of the features/accomplishments I'm proud of having done!:

38 moves are in the game that have unique effects and SFX

12 TierraMon are now in the game with a unique move set, name, description, and roar that they make when entering the battle!

Ability to capture

Level up system

Shard/currency system!

Can find items/shards on the ground

Basic of quest system is working!

Battle engine that is super nice! Hard to explain everything the engine can do, but it is fully narrated and I feel like I did a good job of balancing information, but changes will for sure come once I get some testers!

Shop works!

TierraMon storage system works! You can have a group of 3 with you at all times, and then switch it up whenever you're back at camp.

5 NPCs in the game so far with a unique voice each!

Tutorial is done!

A mute button for the music!

Guide mode! Lost? Turn on guide mode and your TierraGuide will give you step by step directions to get to your objective.

First person navigation system. It's an audio game, but being in first person means pressing left/right will have you turn, which makes the sound scape around you change. So if you hear something on your right, then you turn to the right twice, you will now hear it on your left.

Phase 1 of your hub is complete!

Tutorial in game

First training mission in game

4 Classes of Tierramon, where each one excels in a specific type of move, and is weaker in another.

Have much of the story written out! The final stages of the game is roughly planned.

So overall I've gotten a lot I'm happy with done, but I want to also explain what I hope to get done before the end of this month!

Tierra Smith - Modify your TierraMon to customize them to your needs by having mods found out in the world affixed to them.

More TierraMon - I'm hoping to have 40 in by the end of the month

More items - I have 9 planned items for a total of 10 by the end of the month. These will generally be more special and will focus on giving your TierraMon items to hold that get used when circumstances are met.

More moves - Probably will end up with 50 moves by the end of the month. With 40 being naturally occurring ones, then 10 being ones you can get through modification.

Progression system - Ability through completing quests unique to your TierraMon to upgrade your TierraMon to a more powerful form!

Story missions -  This is the big one. With much of the mechanics of the game in at this point, getting different missions with different objectives are key. These will take the form of missions given by your mentor that will progress the story, unlock more regions, and help you on your journey!

Lore area - An optional area will be available in your Hub that will give you information about the world you live in, and give you updates how you are changing it. NPC's will visit this area when doing work in the camp, checking in on things, or just sight seeing!

Revisiting - Once you've cleared an area, you'll be able to go back to it! After cleaning out a major threat from an area, it makes sense a new one will move in, doesn't it? So going back and redoing old mission areas will reward you with unique equipment, and rare TierraMon functioning as repeatable minibosses, that you can either capture to join your team or defeat to get a nice pile of TierraShards! So if you ever feel stuck on your current mission, you might find mods and new TierraMon in old regions to help you out.

So that's the plan for the rest of the month! I feel like all the mechanics I'll be able to get in, but the hardest part will be how polished/content on the mission will be done. But either way, I hope to have a fun experience by the end of the month and plan on working on it more after!

I also had another little issue. When I was switching to the map mode and using guide mode, I tried toggling it on and off and it wouldn't tell me if it was on or off. It's a small issue, but maybe have your guide say guide mode on when turned on and then off when not. Just a bit confusing is all and thought I should bring it up here just so you knew about it.

Very good point! I'll add that to the list.
